In the mid-1920s, Marcel Breuer designed the Model B3 chair at the Bauhaus, an arts and crafts school in Germany. Now, more than 80 years later, that chair - now known as the Wassily - is an icon of modern design. The use of tubular steel and sling panels was revolutionary at its time, and today, that construction is still as fresh an unexpected as it was then.
The Wassily Leather Arm Chair is crafted from a stainless steel frame - which won't rust or chip - fully welded, sealed, and sanded, then polished to a high, chrome-like shine. Black leather panels adorn the arms, back, and seat. Plastic guards protect the chair and your floors from scratches. Whether placed in the living room or the home office, the Wassily is guaranteed to stand the test of time - it already has. Seat depth is 16 inches. Arm measures 2.75W x 23H inches.

My chairs arrived pretty well boxed but the boxes were each broken through in one place. This obviously happened with the FedEx people and did not contribute to a problem with either chair. However, on each of the chairs, two of the tubular end caps were dented. This is a small item but since these caps face forward they are plainly visible. I don't see how this could have happened in shipping but never say never and I am not placing blame. Only that they arrived that way. They arrived Friday and I contacted Hayneedle Monday and spoke with a most helpful customer rep. named Mitsy. She contacted the manufacturer while we were on the phone and the new caps were on their way as we spoke. It is an easy fix with new parts. Otherwise, I have no complaints. I don't like bonded leather but for [$] that's what you get. Even the higher priced ones, $600.00, I compared used bonded leather. The stitching looks fine and only time will tell on the sagging possibility. I do not know the characteristics of bonded leather. Cudo's to Mitsy and their customer service department.

I ordered the chair for a Christmas present. She loved it. It was her favorite gift!! She had wanted one for years. It arrived fully assembled - a big plus for me.
